Spotlight On: Fiber's & Fabrics Festival

PORT GAMBLE’S FIBERS & FABRICS FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND

Here in Port Gamble, the beautiful bounty in our gardens won't bloom without a bit of April rain.
This weekend, we find reasons to love heading indoors during our first ever Fibers & Fabrics Festival on Saturday and Sunday, April 28-29.

The tulips may have started rising up in our garden beds but the swatches of yellows, reds and pinks will soon be decorating the interiors of Port Gamble’s three largest venues—the serene Hood Canal Vista Pavilion, old-fashioned Community Theater and the exquisite Walker-Ames mansion. All will showcase a blooming bounty of another kind: displays of world-class, lovely quilts--intricate and classic patterns-- hand-dyed fabrics, knits, crotchet art and felting, all handmade by those most talented and dedicated to their craft.

While you’re in town, look for clues to win our “Guess the Yards of Yarn” contest. The winner will receive a gift basket valued at $180 with loads of Port Gamble goodies.

Here’s the plan: Saturday 10AM-5PM and Sunday 10AM-3PM
Cost: This event is FREE!
  • Parking: Free parking is located in town with overflow parking available on the hill across from the historic Buena Vista cemetery.
  • Hood Canal Vista Pavilion: Displays of more than 30 quilts made by devout quilters residing in Poulsbo, Port Angeles, Sequim, Gig Harbor, Forks and Bainbridge Island.
  • Community Theater: Displays of assorted fabrics for anything quilting and sewing with the addition of demonstrations lead by the various local quilt guilds.
  • Walker-Ames Mansion: Look for inspiration for future projects by taking a look at various fleeces and fibers for weaving, spinning, knitting and even basket weaving.
Out here in Port Gamble, we love the outdoors but if we can't be outside due to the April Showers, we hope you will join us. Leave your umbrellas at the door and stay dry while celebrating our first ever Fibers & Fabrics Festival--a tribute to finding a reason to love having to be indoors.
