less is more

A wedding is arguably the most extravagant party you will ever plan. With that being said, it can be remarkably easy to get caught up in all the possibilities. If you have ever attended a wedding show you probably know what I mean.

The sky is absolutely the limit. If you can dream it, you can do it, etc. etc.

However, it is a good idea to remember the old adage, "less is more."

I see so many brides that get so caught up with having the wedding of the year that they incorporate every over the top element in hopes that it will come across as a classy, elegant, lavish event. When more often than not it comes across as the very opposite.

Some extravagant ideas to be careful with include:
-The twelve tiered diamond encrusted cake with light up waterfall
         -Origami inspired napkin folds
-Foods carved into swans, doves or other romantic symbols
-Life-size ice sculpture of the happy couple
-Towering centerpieces that could take out the table in the event of an earthquake, or wind
-A different piece of silverware for every bite
-An enormous ornate backdrop that overshadows the bride and groom
         -A trumpet-mermaid-ball gown-princess style dress with lace-beading-diamond-feather-tulle accents

Yes, I'm being a little silly but in my defense I have actually seen all of these ideas incorporated into events before.

Now, if you are in fact dying to have an over the top, extravagant, lavish, Kardashian-style affair, go for it! Who am I to tell you how you should plan your big day!

But please keep in mind that sometimes less really is more and a good option could always be to choose a couple over the top elements that are most important to you and have a professional help you to execute them properly.

Happy Planning!
