Place Settings

Deciding place settings can be tricky. Not only do you have to decide the logistics of what you need, how much extra you should get, etc. But you also need to decide colors, length of table cloths, square plate or circle, how to fold the napkin...just like with every other aspect of weddings the list goes on and on.

Here is a helpful guide I found for determining what you might need.

This one is obviously for a super formal event and most people don't need all of it (even if they are having a formal affair) but it's a good starting point for deciding what you like, what you don't and where to put it.

And to inspire you...

this is a great example of an elegant, yet simple setting. It includes the necessary elements (fork, knife, spoon, water glass, wine glass) but since it excludes the plate it's a great option if you are having a buffet.

This one is a great example of a semi-formal setting. It sticks with the basics for flatware and glasses (assuming those were water and wine rather than jars) but goes a little further by having both a dinner and salad plate at the setting, as well as a place card.

Lastly, this is a nice example of a classic, formal setting. There is extensive flatware (salad fork, dinner fork, knife, spoon, butter knife) and stemware (water, champagne, white wine, red wine) , a place card, a fancier napkin fold, and a bread and butter plate.

Hope this helps, Happy Planning!
